Why Reepolee Labs?
The name reflects our purpose. A lab is where ideas are developed, tested, and refined before they become products. Reepolee Labs documents those ideas in the Reepolee Approach and implements them in the MIT-licensed Reepolee Framework and ReeWeb projects. Together they are built to keep web applications understandable, maintainable, and deployable for years.
Who we are
Reepolee Labs is a Slovenian engineering company founded by Aleš Vaupotič, a software engineer with over four decades of experience. What started as a traditional IT engineering practice evolved into a research-driven effort to codify what actually works in long-lived software projects.
We study which engineering principles survive technology cycles and turn them into products and practices a small team can understand, operate, and hand to the next maintainer.
Aleš Vaupotič
Principal Software Engineer
Aleš has been shipping software since 1986. Through every framework cycle, every dependency that broke on a quiet Tuesday, every stack that couldn't bend when the client changed direction - he learned what lasts by maintaining what he built years after building it.
That experience taught him that most software engineering problems are not technical. They are problems of complexity management, dependency governance, and architectural clarity. The Reepolee Approach is the distillation of those lessons.
How the projects are funded
Reepolee Framework and ReeWeb are MIT licensed. Their development is funded by Reepolee Labs, client work, commercial support, sponsorship, and sponsored improvements that strengthen the shared projects.
